Charles "Pat"
Debose
Oct 10, 1942 — Feb 8, 2026
Houston
Charles Edward "Pat" DeBose was born on October 10, 1942, in Cameron, Texas to James and Georgiana DeBose. He was the tenth of their children and was affectionately known as "Pat." He attended school in Cameron and graduated from O.J. Thomas High School.
In 1961, Pat moved to Houston to live with his older sister, Ruth "Honey" Sterling, and her husband, Ralph. That same year, he met the love of his life, Sandra Maxwell. The two were united in marriage in 1964, and their loving union was blessed with two children, Sonia "Pinky" and Charles, Jr. "Dooney."
Pat was a skilled master of Heating and Cooling with Houston Independent School District, where he dedicated years of service. He also coached junior high school basketball and played semi-professional basketball alongside Ernest Gentry and Ike Pittman. Later, he combined his love for truck driving and CB radio during his career with SAIA Motor Freight until his retirement. Along the way, he became widely known by his CB handles, "95" and "Quaker State."
In 2013, Pat and Sandra relocated to Groesbeck, where they enjoyed life with their horses. He continued riding with friends such as J.C. Countee and Tyrone and stayed connected with his CB buddies, Big Foot and Grave Robber.
Pat was truly a man's man — known by many names: Daddy, DeBose, Charles, Mr. Charles, Quaker State, and "95." Above all, he was known as a very good man who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Sandra DeBose; daughter, Sonia DeBose-Martin (Paul); son, Charles DeBose, Jr.; grandchildren Derrick Brooks, Jalisa DeBose, Jordan DeBose, and Charles Edward Bell; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
The services for Mr. DeBose will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 at Windsor Village Church Family. The viewing will begin at 9:00 with funeral services immediately following at 10:00am.
